Cáirde Rás Tailteann Announce Support From Cycling Irland

Cáirde Rás Tailteann announces the support of Cycling Ireland who have stepped up again in 2022 to continue ultimately the support that originated from the various state Departments including Sport/Transport over decades, now continued via Sport Ireland and its long association with An Rás Tailteann.

Cycling Ireland is the National Governing body for cycling across the island of Ireland with a vision is to develop an island enriched by cycling. More>>>


Burren Cycling Rás Tailteann Team 2022

Burren cycling club are delighted to announce that for the first time since 1991 County Clare will have a team of riders racing this year’s international acclaimed Rás Tailteann bike race.

This years Rás is a 5-stage race starting in Dublin on Wednesday June 15th. & finishing in Dundalk on the 19th of June.

County Clare will again host a stage finish with Stage 3 bringing riders from Newcastlewest to Lisdoonvarna- a gruelling 175 km’s the longest stage of this year’s Rás.

The Burren Cycling Club was set up on November 28th 2003 by cycling enthusiasts John Nilan and Patrick O’Donoghue. The club has continued to grow in numbers over the years with current membership running at over 110 members.

To cater for a growing racing cohort Burren CC set up a racing side to the club to assist racing riders develop. The racing side of the club was formed in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength. Burren CC have had its best racing year to date with multiple victories & placings in races across the country so far this year. Mark Shannon from Bellharbour is currently the highest ranked rider on Cycling Irelands ranking tables.

An Rás wouldn’t be an Rás without the participation of our own Irish team.

Showcasing some of the best up and coming Irish talent and future prospects, the Irish team is always one to put in a big performance in its home event. No less should be expected in 2022 as they aim to fill the shoes and follow in the footsteps of the big names that went before them.
Race Director Ger Campbell when asked about the teams' participation said ‘’the Rás certainly wouldn’t be the Ras without the Irish team and that is no less the case in 2022. The Irish team always acquits itself well and we don’t expect anything less this year” he added “we think that this team has the prerequisites for both stage and overall honours, we just have to wait and see how they assess their fellow competitors and adapt their game plan according to how the race unfolds” More>>>

Reaffirming the appeal of An Rás Tailteann to the international cycling community. It is a testament to the stature of the race that again welcomes a team from the USA. This year the USA – Good Guys Racing Team, based out of the heart of New York City travels over the Atlantic Ocean specially to lay down its challenge for honours in the 2022 event.

What started as a self-described modest team, has quickly evolved into one of the powerhouses of Road Racing in the North Eastern Corner of USA. In 2021, Good Guys Racing competed in The US Criterium Series all across the United States, against top professional teams.

Ireland Team Named For 67th. Ras Tailteann

Cycling Ireland has named a strong line-up of young riders for the 67th edition of Rás Tailteann, a 5-day stage race hosted on the roads from Ireland from June 15 to 19.

Rás Tailteann is the second stage race of the season for Cycling Ireland’s U23 Road Programme which enjoyed considerable success at Flèche du Sud (2.2) last week. Dean Harvey and Matthew Devins both recorded top-10 results, finishing with 7th and 9th respectively on stages.

Rás Tailteann will see new names get an opportunity to showcase their talent under the guidance of U23 Programme Lead, Martyn Irvine, and senior professional Rory Townsend, who takes on the road captaincy.
