Cycling Ireland Name Strong Team For Rás Tailteann

Dillon Corkery Team Ireland Winner Of The 2023 Ras Tailteann

A strong Ireland team will compete in the 2024 Rás Tailteann as excitement builds for the 69th edition from May 22nd to 26th.

A six-strong Ireland team, including five U23 riders, offers an exciting line-up and an opportunity for the riders to continue their development at national team level and showcase their talents in Ireland’s premier stage race.

Dillon Corkery will ride as road captain following a successful 2023, winning the general classification of the Rás Tailteann with the Irish national team before also representing Ireland at the UCI World Championships Elite Men’s Road Race.

The 25-year-old has continued that momentum racing in Europe this season, including three top ten finishes in the Tour de Bretagne last month, and will look to part some of his experience with his teammates.

Liam O’Brien steps up to senior level in Ireland colours for the first time, the Lidl Trek Development Team rider has represented Ireland at junior level and has enjoyed exposure to the pro peloton in recent weeks, including competing in the Tour of the Alps last month.

Dean Harvey and Odhran Doogan will once again represent Ireland, the pair have been regular fixtures at U23 level with the Irish national team and will hope to draw upon that experience across the demanding stages throughout the race.

In-form UCD Cycling Club rider Liam Crowley completes an exciting line-up as he represents Ireland for the first time. One of the top riders in domestic racing this season, Crowley has been consistently in the top ten in races and overall classifications, including the Road National Series and Dornan Rás Mumhan.

Martyn Irvine, Team Manager for 2024 Rás Tailteann, said: “We’re excited to bring an Ireland team full of both youth and experience to the Rás Tailteann this year. We adopted a similar approach last year focusing on rider development and had a very successful race with Dillon (Corkery) taking the general classification. I’m delighted to have Dillon back this year as his experience will be important in helping our developing riders achieve success in the race. I’m looking forward to seeing how we fair in a competitive field like the Rás Tailteann.”
