Cycling Ireland has announced SUBWAY Eat Fresh as sponsor of the National Team, for the upcoming FBD Insurance Rás, which starts in Naas on Sunday 20th May 2007.

Dermot Nally Wins Stage 3 Into Charevill 2004
Leading the SUBWAY Eat Fresh Irish Team is current National Champion, and winner of the Rás in 2004, David McCann. He is joined by Paul Griffin, Dermot Nally, Martyn Irvine and former World Junior and double National Champion, Mark Scanlon.

Commenting on the team, National Team Manager, Cian Lynch says “ This team has great strength and depth. Mc Cann has a great record in this race, claiming the overall in 2004 – Griffin, Nally and Scanlon have all scored stage wins in the Rás. The sole Espoir on the team, Martyn Irvine, has impressed with his rides on the U23 Espoirs National Team at Picardie and Liege Bastogne Liege, culminating with a win on the 1st Stage of the Tour of Ulster.”

Acknowledging the excellent field which Dermot Dignam and his race staff have attracted, Lynch feels that this year’s edition may well produce a surprise winner – “With less categorised climbs than normal, the stages from Templemore to Dungloe are going to have an impact, so too will the final stages to Newcastle and Skerries. The title will be won into Skerries.”

Andrea White, Marketing Manager with Subway commented “Subway prides itself on providing fresh produce in a convenient and healthy way! Hectic lifestyles mean it can be difficult to enjoy a meal that is both convenient and nutritious. With Subway, Customers can enjoy tasty food on the go safe in the knowledge that what they are getting is also healthy! Subway are very proud to sponsor the Irish National Team on the FBD Insurance Rás.”
