Publicising the support of Cycling Ireland for the 2023 edition of An Rás.

 

Cáirde Rás Tailteann announces the support of Cycling Ireland who have stepped up again in 2023 to continue their long association with An Rás Tailteann. Cycling Ireland is the National Governing body for cycling across the island of Ireland with a vision is to develop an island enriched by cycling.

 

Staying true to its roots as an organisation that was originally formed to cater to competitive cyclists. It now also boasts one of the more diverse, larger and influential memberships within the context of the Irish sporting landscape. Bringing together cyclists and communities whether it relates to education, leisure, development, safety, competition, commuting or just incidental bike use of any kind. Cycling Ireland is a resource for everyone no matter what your interest in cycling is, through its varied resources and programmes.

 

Race Director Gerard Campbell added “Cycling Ireland has been one of An Rás Tailteann’s most consistent supporters over the years. They have continued their vital support of this event in 2023, as well as many others in the Irish Cycling calendar. Our sincerest thanks to Cycling Ireland for their recognition of how critical this event is, not just for the development of our talented athletes, but also for the role this event plays in bringing the Irish cycling community together. Cáirde Rás Tailteann appreciate the work Cycling Ireland have done to facilitate the smooth transfer of knowledge, skills and experience between the generations of volunteers within the wider national cycling community, which makes this event possible”.

Cycling Ireland is pleased to support theprestigious international stage race, which gives top domestic riders the opportunity to compete on home roads against teams from around the world. With finishes in Birr, Ennis, Castlebar, Monaghan, and Blackrock, Co Louth, there are ample opportunities for fans to catch a glimpse of the riders in action.”

 

Of course, Cycling Ireland also boasts the inclusion of an Irish national team which will be announced at a later date.

 

 

 

The Route

 

The 68th edition of the race will take place between May 17th-21st and will travel clockwise around Ireland with stage finishes in Birr, Ennis, Castlebar and Monaghan before starting the final stage to a finishing circuit in the seaside town of Blackrock, Co. Louth. Riders will cover 768km with 14 categorised climbs which will act as a platform for attacking riders to battle it out for the coveted Rás yellow jersey.
