2006 Cuchulainn Crystal Sponsors County Rider Award Dundalk company Cuchulainn Crystal has signed up as one of the official sponsors of the FBD Insurance RÁS which takes place this year from Sunday 21st to Sunday 28th May. The race is one of the select group of world races eligible to award qualifying points for World Championships and Olympic Games. Former winners include 2004 Olympic medal winner Chris Newton, current Irish road race champion David McCann and Irish sporting legend Stephen Roche. The 200 strong field of riders combines international, professional and Irish county teams, who battle it out over nine stages and 1,200 kilometers to decide the eventual winner. Each day the amateur Irish county riders go up against the elite professionals from three continents and the highest placed county rider on each stage is recognised with a specially commissioned piece of Cuchulainn Crystal. In addition to their sponsorship of the county award, Cuchulainn Crystal will also be sponsoring the Louth Cycling Team in this year's race. |
